The COVID-19 outbreak is hitting the poorest, hardest. The Felix Project has never seen such a high demand for food in London. In order to respond to this crisis, they are expanding our operations so that they can reach as many people as possible who are vulnerable and in need of food. Since lockdown began, they have:

  • Tripled the amount of food rescued from surplus and send out across London, delivering the equivalent of 1.9 million meals in June

  • Delivered food direct to the emergency food hubs which are now operating in every London borough

  • Changed the way they work in the warehouses, enforcing new health and safety rules to keep staff and volunteers safe

  • Teamed up with restaurants to get home-made ready-meals to the homeless and NHS staff

  • Worked with charities who turn our food into meals and deliver door-door for people who cannot leave their homes

  • Food has reaching people who have lost their jobs, people on low incomes, children and families who are struggling, people who are sick, key workers struggling to find food, older people who are isolated, people who are homeless, survivors of domestic abuse, and refugees.

About the Felix Project

1.5 million adults in London struggle to afford to eat every day, 400,000 children are at risk of missing the next meal. Meanwhile, our food industry generates almost 2 million tonnes of good, edible surplus food each year.

The Felix Project is a London-based food redistribution waste charity set up in 2016 to tackle both issues.
They rescue good, surplus food from the food industry that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste. This is high-quality and nutritious, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish. They collect or receive food from over 450 suppliers, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis.
It’s then sorted and delivered to over 400 front-line charities, primary schools and holiday programmes in London. That way, food that would have gone to waste is reaching vulnerable people, homeless, people with mental health or those who simply cannot afford to buy regular, healthy food.

They are lots of way the support the Felix project, you can simple donate money, £10 donated gives 60 meals to Londoners in need.

Or you can give food at your local Food Bank ( seek here)

Or you can volunteer by giving your time to help vulnerable people.

2/3 hour shifts available in our Park Royal W3 0RU, Enfield EN1 1SH, and Deptford SE8 5HY depots.

Drivers drive the van and help to unpack the food at the stops. Co-drivers navigate and help to pack and unpack the food at the stops.

You can opt to drive a route without a co-driver, but please note this requires unpacking heavy creates by yourself. If you are doing a route as a pair, and are not from the same household, you must wear a mask at all times.

Drivers need to be able to drive a van confidently, and:

  • Have a full driving licence with less than 6 points on the licence

  • Be over 21 years old

  • Have been driving for over 1 year

  • Ideally, you will have some professional driving experience
