TRESANTON HOTEL, ST MAWES, CORNWALL, England

Tresanton is a cluster of houses on the edge of St Mawes, one of the prettiest fishing villages in Cornwall. There is no muzak whatsoever at Tresanton, only the sound of the waves and the occasional Sea Shanty. South facing, your eyes are constantly drawn to the sea.

On a sunny day, Tresanton’s dining room is one of the loveliest places to eat in England. The restaurant has a mosaic floor and a Pelargonium filled terrace.

The special light made West Cornwall a centre for modern and abstract British artists in the 1940s to the 1960s. The hotel is decorated with paintings and drawings from Cornwall. All of the rooms have sea views and have been individually designed with antiques and Cornish art by Olga Polizzi.

The terraces cascade down the hillside towards a Mediterranean-style beach club set just above the waterline. The Beach Club, a dash of ‘la dolce vita’ on the Cornish coast. The breezy private terraces have a Juice Café with cold-pressed juices, coffee, tea and snacks. It’s a sun soaked oasis for lounging, daydreaming and listening to the sound of the waves.

The Pig At bridge PLACE, Kent, England

An intriguing old building with a rock-n-roll vibe, which over the past four decades has been home to some renowned parties and gigs playing host in the ‘70s to Led Zeppelin and the like.

The hotel houses lots of period features, including large fireplaces, secret stairways, panelled rooms and endless nooks and crannies. In the refurb, all of these structural nuances are being respected and enhanced to create seven bedrooms along with numerous cosy bars and sitting areas.

With far reaching views out across the Kentish countryside, all bedrooms are finished in our signature style, but with some exciting new additions. There are 7 characterful bedrooms in the main house, 12 light and spacious rooms in the Coach House, 2 family friendly lodges; and The Barn, a rustic romantic two-storey hideaway in the old stables. Additionally, 7 Kentish Hop Pickers’ Huts on stilts sit alongside the river in the grounds, each has been made from reclaimed materials and has a double-bedroom with fitted bathroom and wood burning stove.

The Coach House is home to the restaurant, filled with signature PIG touches but feeling markedly different to its sister restaurants with a kitchen that opens-up into the space, letting you in on the action.

The ultimate unwinding happens in the kitchen garden. The Potting Sheds are tucked away, so you can enjoy a revitalising treatment in peace.

hazlitts.jpg

At Hazlitt’s our philosophy is simple, they have set out to create the kind of accommodation we ourselves would love to find in the heart of one of the world’s great cities. Civilised surroundings; old fashioned hospitality; friendly efficient service; a location away from the roar of traffic, but within a very short walk of the most important attractions.

Each one of their rooms is different. Rich, romantic, retro: the choice is yours. Beds are either 17th Century carved oak or Georgian four posters. The bathrooms have restored Victorian fittings, many with cast iron roll-top baths, Vintage showers and high level cisterns. All rooms are air-conditioned and have complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen television, mini bar, safe and REN toiletries.

The Library has a working fireplace, comfortable furnishings and plenty to read. There is an honesty bar where you can relax or entertain friends. They offer 24-hour room service, same-day dry cleaning and laundry service. They can arrange a table at the most fashionable restaurant or admission to an exclusive London club or transport to pick you up from the airport. Should you wish to organise anything special - maybe Champagne, flowers, chocolates, theatre tickets -just let them know, exceptional service is their priority.
