SPRING FORWARD TO NEWNESS

Every season has its own customs. Spring brings with it a sense of freshness. Get rid of the old and make room for the new. There is a reason for change in every season we go through in life. Newness is brought about by change. There is a need for change. It is possible to make a difference via change. Change is a process. Heres 5 ways to get a fresh start.

1. Make a minor habit adjustment

One tiny behavioural modification, believe it or not, can completely transform your life. It's not difficult to get from stressed to strong, especially if you break it down into little, manageable steps.

  • Sleep one hour earlier. This might have a major impact the next morning, leaving you feeling energised and rejuvenated.

  • Eat a dinner made from whole foods that won't upset your tummy or keep you awake at night due to substances like caffeine, sugar, and other preservatives, so you can go asleep faster.

  • Every day, do the most crucial thing as soon as possible. Although it appears to be straightforward, the majority of us fail to do so. If going for a run or making nutritious meals for yourself is your top priority, doing so first virtually precludes the potential of anything else getting in the way.

2. Get a new wardrobe

There are numerous reasons why you may find yourself in the position of having to change your wardrobe. Significant physical changes, moving to a new climate, taking a new job, beginning a "grown-up" phase of your life, realising your style has changed, or simply wanting to start fresh are all reasons to start over. All of them are fair and reasonable reasons!

When you start from scratch, you have the opportunity to build your wardrobe with high-quality items that you enjoy. At times, it may appear that the procedure is taking longer. Especially if you're on a tight budget. It is, nevertheless, worthwhile to do it correctly.

"Dress for the job you want, not the job you have," as the phrase goes. You want your wardrobe to reflect your aspirations and the future you want for yourself while also fitting into your current lifestyle. What good is a closet full of clothes you don't know what to do with?

3. Learn a new skill

A new skill, unlike a new pastime, can help you advance in life. Consider taking a course to improve your resumé if you feel like you're lagging behind at work. Check out a trade school or a two-year programme if you want to explore a different job route. Find something that interests you and can provide you with a new feeling of purpose in life.

It's fine if you don't find anything you're enthusiastic about doing for a living. The most important thing is to select a career that you would enjoy performing every day.

Pick up a camera

Photography is both a pleasurable pastime and a useful skill.

Whether you want to master the basics of taking better images with your smartphone or upgrade to a professional camera, there are a wealth of tools available to help you become a better photographer.

Write a book

Writing a book may appear daunting at first, but if you come up with a strong topic and compose an outline, you'll be well on your way.

Pick up a new language

Whether it's Japanese, Portuguese, or Zimbabwe's Ndebele language, now is your time to make it happen. There are any apps you can use to help you learn a new language such as Duolingo.

4. Keep a positive mindset

Positive thinking isn't a cure-all, and it won't solve all of your problems. It will make challenges appear more manageable and assist you in approaching difficulties in a more positive and productive manner.

Positive thinking can be attained using a variety of approaches that have been demonstrated to work, including positive self-talk and positive imagery.

Focus on the good things

Life is full of difficult events and hurdles. When confronted with one, focus on the positive aspects, no matter how minor or inconsequential they may appear. Even if it's not immediately apparent, you can always discover the proverbial silver lining in every cloud if you look for it. If someone cancels plans, for example, think about how it frees up time for you to watch TV or do anything else you enjoy.

Practice gratitude

Even in the face of adversity, thankfulness has been demonstrated to reduce stress, increase self-esteem, and develop resilience. Consider the people, moments, or things that provide you joy or comfort, and try to express your thanks at least once a day. This could be thanking a coworker for their assistance on a project, a loved one for doing the dishes, or your dog for their unconditional affection.

5. Be patient with yourself

Being patient with ourselves means remembering our humanity and the fact that none of us are flawless. Patience entails accepting ourselves as we are and choosing to focus on progress over perfection. It entails extending compassion to ourselves rather than withholding it.

It entails treating yourself with more compassion and empathy. "I understand how difficult this is. I know you're having a hard time, but I have faith in you. I am confident in your abilities. You'll be able to get through this."

Everything, including the obstacles, is a part of our path. We may embrace all of who we are and recover holistically if we see the path as beautiful, including the hard aspects. Allow yourself to be patient. For many of us, this is a whole new way of thinking.
