SAVE 3 LIVES IN 45 MINUTES

People often say that volunteering is really like sharing a part of yourself, and in this case, this is meant quite literally.

Your blood saves lives. Your blood donation is an amazing gift to people who need it in an emergency or for on-going medical treatment. Just one pint of donated blood can save up to three lives.

You can really feel like you are making a difference.

NHS ‘Give Blood’ need over 6,000 blood donations every day to treat patients in need across England. Which is why there’s always a need for people to give blood.

Each year they need approximately 200,000 new donors, as some donors can no longer give blood. Most people between the ages of 17-65 can give blood, however around half of the current donors are over 45. That's why they need more young people (over the age of 17) to start giving blood, so they can make sure they have enough blood in the future.

They need more donors from all blood groups and types, in particular, more people from minority ethnic communities to give blood so that they have a supply of certain blood types. They urgently need 40,000 black donors to provide much needed blood donations for black patients with sickle cell disease. Register as a blood donor and book an appointment to give blood and help someone in need today.

The blood you give is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments. Many people would not be alive today if donors had not generously given their blood. To find out where to Give Blood near you.
